Entering duty by item (customs entry)

When items pay different duty rates, enter each item's duty from the customs entry instead of sharing it by FOB value.

Steps

  1. Open the import, then find Import duty by item (below Landed costs).
  2. For each item, enter its tariff (HS) code and rate % (duty on the customs value: FOB plus its share of freight and insurance), or type the amount from the entry.
  3. Click Save import duty by item: the total must match the duty invoiced (or provided for) on the import.
  4. Choose another cost (e.g. Levies) in the box at the top to enter it by item too.
  5. Click Cost the import: each item takes exactly its own duty; freight, clearing and the rest are still shared by FOB value (or quantity).

Good to know

  • If the amounts by item don't add up to the duty on the import, costing waits and shows the difference.
  • Leave every row empty to share the duty by FOB value again.
