Connect GPS trackers

Positions from any tracker or telematics provider - pushed with a key, or imported from an export.

Steps

  1. Go to Settings โ†’ Fleet management โ†’ Tracker feeds and Create feed. Copy the key shown - it is not shown again.
  2. Give your provider the address shown on that page and the key (header X-Feed-Key). It posts positions: unit, time, latitude, longitude and, if it has them, speed, heading, odometer, ignition and event.
  3. On each vehicle, enter its GPS tracker id (IMEI / unit) - or let the tracker report the registration - and, if it differs from the fleet's, its speed limit.
  4. Providers without a push: export positions to CSV and import them under Fleet management โ†’ Tracking โ†’ Import a provider export.
  5. Under GPS & telematics in the same settings: the fleet speed limit, how many days positions are kept, the distance that flags use without a trip, and whether the tracker's odometer counts as meter readings.

Good to know

  • A feed can be switched off at any time; a switched-off key is refused.
  • Positions older than the retention period are deleted each night (company policy on location records).
  • GPS odometer readings only ever move the meter forward - never a correction.
