Turn on equipment hire, vehicle rental and property leasing - it sets up its accounts, asset classes, billing items, expense items and cost dimension for you.
Steps
Go to Settings → Lease management.
Read what will be set up: rental revenue, deposit, rental fleet and property accounts; the asset classes Rental fleet - vehicles, Rental fleet - plant & equipment and Rental properties; billing items (equipment hire, vehicle hire, property rent, service charge, excess usage & standby, mobilisation, damage & penalties) with their revenue accounts; expense items for operating, ownership, property and contract costs; and a cost dimension "Vehicles & assets".
Choose the cost dimension to use (only unused ones are offered - dimension 5 by default) and tick the confirmation.
Click Enable Lease & rentals. It appears under Operations.
Later, Check set-up adds back anything deleted - it never changes what you edited. Switch off hides the module; nothing is deleted.
Good to know
Your plan needs Fixed assets and Accounting.
Only people with Settings - edit can switch it on or off.
